pic_leslie-mattie fosterLeslie and Mattie Foster celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2009, with a reaffirmation ceremony at Zion Star Baptist Church. A beautiful dinner reception was held at "The Bright Shawl" where family and friends gathered to honor t1hem. The former Mattie J. Taylor married Leslie R. Foster on July 5, 1959, at her parents' home in Cuero, TX. They have two children, Tristan(Foster) Caldwell and Leslie R. Foster, II, and two granddaughters, Lanna Monique and Leschel Iman. The couple has resided in San Antonio and served the community with their many talents over the last 50 years.

Mr. Foster is known throughout the African-American community as Brother Leslie Foster, soloist.  Mrs. Foster often accompanies him on piano.  He is also the founder of the Leslie Foster Community Echoes community choir, which has sung across the country.
In a statement, the couple’s children said, “Our deepest love and gratitude go to you for your example of commitment, unity, and generosity, which has touched the lives of so many people around you. May God continue to bless you with long life, love, healthn and happiness!”
